NTU holds stakeholders' consultations in Malawi

Workshop Salima, 3rd – 4th November

The EU-financed Technical Assistance to Rural Roads Improvement Programme in Malawi is moving full steam ahead. Several workshops and meetings were held in Lilongwe and Salima over the past few weeks to increase stakeholder’s engagement and discuss several outputs of the project.

The key stakeholders were represented by Minitry of Transport and Public Works, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Finance, Districts Council’s Directors of Public Works, Road Authority, Road Fund Administration and the National Construction Industry Council of Malawi.

A 2 days workshop was held in Salima in the beginning of November 2020, where the following topics were discussed:

  • Technical Standards for Road Rehabilitations & Maintenance
  • Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
  • Devolution Strategy

The workshop generated lively and open discussion which led to identification of project implementation challenges as well as gaps to be closed in the capacity development.

Further meetings were held in Lilongwe in the first part of November, where the following topics of Gender Equality and the Technical Standards were discussed more extensively.
