NTU is selected as lead partner to implement a project on the harmonisation of sanitary and phytosanitary standards (SPS) for the benefit of food safety and quality in the Mercosur region (Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay and Uruguay). The project aims at supporting the process of regional integration through an optimisation of the the trade flow in the region. This will be done by providing institutional support to the institutions in charge of this work area, a review and upgrade of key databases, a strengthening of the sanitary and phytosanitary laboratories and the elaboration of a regional Mercosur strategy for SPS and food security and quality.
