Implementation support for EU-Zambia Aviation project

NTU supported EASA in the implementation of the EU-Zambia Aviation project

On 21st of September, the EU-ASSP II-Z Closing event was held in Lusaka. The EU - Aviation Sector Support Programme II to Zambia is a support project funded by the European Union and implemented by EASA. At NTU we are very satisfied to have continuously supported EASA in the implementation of this successful project since its start in 2017 both by providing experts and assisting in the logistics and events.

The Project has enhanced the cooperation between the EU and Zambia, it has supported the development of a reliable and effective aviation sector capable of contributing to economic growth in the country and has paved the way to a better compliance with international aviation standards, especially in terms of both aviation safety and security oversight. Higher safety standards, a more harmonized and competitive aviation sector, enhanced connectivity and cooperation in air transport are among the main project achievements.

Over the last 6 years NTU has contributed to most of 60 project activities, including workshops, on the job trainings, expert evaluation missions and seminars. NTU experts have provided support on the following technical areas:

• ZCAA policy improvements
• Accident investigation procedures and independent AIB
• New Drones regulation and Drones Centre of Excellence
• Capacity building for ZCAA official
• Strengthened Oversight system
  
• SSP implementation support
• Environment (CORSIA)
• Air Operations
• Aerodromes
