NTU wins EC contract TA to Transport Sector in Montenegro

The consortium led by NTU, has won the EuropeAid project: 'Technical Assistance to the Transport Sector, Montenegro', EuropeAid/127318/C/SER/ME Re-launched. The project is said to be executed within 15 months, from April 2010 to August 2011 and the overall value is 1,2 mln EUR. The project consists of providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Transport, for improving the capacity of the road, railway and civil aviation administrations. It will be implemented through the harmonization of transport-related legislation, assistance to the Project Implementation Units (roads and railway infrastructure) and establishment of institutional and operational procedures for the Civil Aviation Administration. The overall objectives of the project are thereby: - to contribute to economic growth in Montenegro by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of its road, rail and civil air transport facilities - to facilitate trade flows with neighbouring countries - to provide a catalystfor attracting IFI loans and other investments in the transport sector. - to improve the capacity of the Beneficiary Country’s administrations to implement legislative, institutional and budgetary reformthat will improve maintenance standards on the existing transport network; - to improve the capacity of the Beneficiary Country’s administrations to manage implementation of IFI investments that will contribute to the improvement of the existing transport network. - to establish a fully operational Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) and Railway Directorate
