NTU organised biggest Europe Day event ever remembered in Georgia

On the 6th of May, NTU International organized the Europe Day event in Tbilisi, Georgia, as part of our project “EU4Georgia 4 - Communicating the European Union in Georgia."

The event was officially opened by Irakli Gharibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, and Pawel Herczynski, Ambassador of the European Union. The opening was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Government, partners, journalists, and the numerous Europe Day participants. Throughout the day, participants, of varying ages and interest groups, enjoyed a diversity of activities. 16 Member States of the European Union presented their cultures and traditions in the “Eurovillage”, including exhilarating singing and dancing performances. European Union Partners showcased the results and benefits for Georgian citizens which have been achieved thanks to the EU’s assistance to Georgia. The Young European Ambassadors shared their ideas and perspectives on the Youth Stage with Ambassador Herczynski joining them for a live discussion.

Many inhabitants and visitors of Tbilisi joined the event to discover more about the European Union, participate in gratifying games, and interactive activities, and taste the delicious food of Georgian farmers exhibiting their products at the Europe Day edition of “Unique Georgian Taste”.

Later in the day, the new format “Storytelling Event: My Europe” gave the spotlight to twelve Georgian celebrities, who shared their personal stories about their connection with Europe.

The first big Europe Day in Tbilisi after the pandemic concluded with the Peace Bridge and TV tower lighting up in the colours of the European flag. Follow the European Union in Georgia for photos, videos and more emotions from the day.
