NTU International is actively following COP27 events
10th of November, 2022
The COP27 event is taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh, 6. Nov - 18. Nov, 2022
NTU International is actively following COP 27 events, specifically on green and sustainable financing, which is a key topic this year. We were happy to attend the International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF) annual event with the participation of esteemed professionals such as Ms. MsGuiness, The European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services, and the Capital Markets Union, Ms. Saich, EIB’s Chief Climate Change Expert, and others. The event highlighted organizations’ ongoing commitment to international collaboration on sustainable finance as well as efforts to support the transition to a climate-neutral and sustainable economy. The participants called for improved standards, stronger accountability, and transparency to ensure credible, and comparable information and avoid greenwashing. The event also discussed the IPSF’s Transition Finance Report which came out today, 9th November, proposing a set of voluntary principles that are intended to stimulate thinking on useful common approaches within transition finance frameworks and tools – to help markets plan and communicate about the transition, seek financing for it, provide appropriate financing, and eventually encourage a more vigorous transition.
Moreover, the session on Sustainability funding under InvestEU with the participation of representatives from the European Commission, European Investment Fund (EIF), and others, raised awareness about the Sustainability Guarantee product managed by the EIF, as well as the options available through InvestEU to assist SMEs in transitioning to sustainability, which we find to be of utmost importance.
NTU International is very involved in research and finding new solutions and innovative ideas to contribute to climate change resilience and environmental protection.
